In addition to system connections, AutLay offers the possibility to connect customer, product and recommendation data via file upload. In this article we will explain step by step how you can connect your data via file upload in the AutLay SaaS.

What types of data can be connected via file upload?
- Customer data such as address data is required so that we can send your advertising material to your customers. Further attributes of your customer data can be used to personalize your advertising material or to filter your customer data.
- Product data such as item number, price or description are required so that our AI can automatically create a layout of the products to be advertised. Product data is optional, as you can also create product-independent advertising material with us.
- Recommendation data is suitable for creating fully individualized advertising materials with the help of our AI.
What file formats are supported?
Currently we support XLSX and CSV file formats. Are you missing a common format? Then feel free to contact us!
Please note that we support comma (",") or semicolon (";") in UTF-8 character encoding as default separator for CSV files. This is compatible with the default settings of popular spreadsheet programs such as Excel or OpenOffice. Texts that themselves contain the delimiter can be enclosed in quotes (e.g.: "value, containing a ""comma"""). Quotation marks themselves are marked by another quotation mark as in the example.
If you want to use a different separator, you can enter "sep=|" in the first line of your file, inserting your separator (here the vertical bar) after the equals sign.

Connection of customer and product data
In the following we will explain step by step how you can link your files to us:
The example shows the upload of customer data. The upload of product data is analogous.
1. Click on the "Upload file" field or drag and drop the file into the field.
2. When you click on the field, the file selector of your computer will open. Select the file you want to upload.
3. After you have selected your file, a window opens where you can assign the attributes of your data source (the uploaded file) to the so-called standard attributes. Standard attributes are attributes that we can use to create your advertising material. Mandatory attributes are marked with an asterisk (*). Our system tries to assign your attributes to the standard attributes automatically as much as possible. These fields are marked with the addition "automatically recognized" and are only suggestions, which you can of course edit at any time.
Note on customer data: In order for us to be able to address your advertising material correctly, either the standard attribute "Last name" or "Company name" must be assigned in addition to the attributes marked with an asterisk(*).
4. The mapping can be edited by clicking on one of the drop-down fields in the "Attribute from data source" column.
5. If your file is an export from a third-party system such as Hubspot or Shopify, you can click on "Select import template" and specify the corresponding third-party system. The attributes of your data source will then be automatically assigned to the correct standard attributes.

6. Click on "Save" to save your attribute assignment. If you did not receive an error message, your data source can be used to create ads.
7. The attribute assignment of a data source can be edited at any time. To do so, move the mouse over the corresponding data source and click on the pencil icon "Edit attribute assignment".

Customer and product data
If you maintain your customer and product data in a corresponding system, simply use the standardized export options of the respective system. Please note that we support XLSX or CSV file formats for export.
Recommendation data
Please use this sample file and fill it with your own data.
