How to add a personalized image to your print materials.
What is image personalization?
In the AutLay solution, it is possible to define image elements independently from the product representation, where the content is personalized for each recipient. This is called image personalization.
How it works
Each image box can be personalized by selecting a placeholder. This placeholder must be stored in the recipient's data source. See the section below for more details.
1. Adding a new image box
To add and personalize a new image box, go to Styling Templates in the menu on the left. There, create a new styling or modify an existing one.
First, select a media type and default template, and name your template.
The template editor opens, and the template can be customized as desired.
- To insert an image box, add a new image box through the New Box menu.
- Size and position of the image element can be adjusted.
- If you have assigned an image file to the image box and no personalization values are available, this file will appear as the fallback image.
2. Placeholder Personalization
Since the personalization depends on the placeholder in a specific data source, you’ll need to create a campaign and select a data source before the element can display personalized content. Do this under Campaign Overview in the left menu.
When creating a campaign, choose the media type that matches your prepared styling.
- Under Configure, select a recipient data source that contains an attribute for the placeholder in the image personalization, where a corresponding image URL is stored.
- Choose your customized styling.
- In the next step, you can personalize content and appearance of the image box.
- On the right side of the editor, you’ll find the Placeholder tab. There, select the placeholder attribute specified in the data source (Make sure the attribute is declared as image-url when uploading the data).
- Hit Save in the bottom right to confirm your selection and personalize the image box.
Once you’ve adjusted all the content to your liking, you can preview a soft proof of some ad materials.
...then just enter the billing address, and your sendouts are ready to go!
